Yarn Along

I can't really call this post Knitting This Week, like I have in the past.  I seem to have taken a hiatus from blogging and knitting.  Actually I seem to have taken a hiatus from weeding, opening mail, cleaning... Not for any exciting reason except for work.

So with that said, while I haven't been knitting to show any progress on any of my projects, I have been reading up a storm.  I have listened to two audio books- The Lincoln Myth by Steve Berry and Hot Shot by Julie Garwood.  I have read four book- The Crossing Places & The Janus Stone by Ellie Griffiths, Rock with Wings by Anne Hillerman and Knit One, Kill Two by Maggie Sefton.  But according to my Goodreads challenge, I am still 12 books behind in my goal of 100 books for 2015.

The Maggie Sefton book takes place in Fort Collins but in the book it is called Fort Connor.  I have the next two to read as well but have a couple of other borrowed to finish.  I just started reading Denali's Howl.  And by just started I mean I've read two pages.

While I haven't been knitting I have been contemplating two new baby knits.  One would be for Bryan's niece who is having a boy and a friend from dance who with her partner is adopting a baby girl.  I don't want to make a big something that will take me a long time to knit, but more a thoughtful something that is a quick knit.  Does that make sense?  So what would you knit?

  1. Wow, you've got a lot of reading done! I always like hug-me-tights for little girls - not sure if that is what you call them. Like a wraparound shrug. Or maybe a knitted baby rattle for something different. People always expect knitted clothes for babies, so maybe a toy instead. Look forward to seeing what you decide to knit.

  2. you've been reading up a storm!!! I think I downloaded the Steve Berry....was it good? haven't gotten to it yet. I always like puepurium (?) for a quick little sweaters, but I've also found that young mom's actually USE...small knitted baby washcloths....I usually make three and tie them together with a little rubber duckie on top. Pretty cute if I do say so myself!!!! :)

  4. A quick thoughtful knit? A hat and some booties. You could probably get it done in an evening or two. You may not be knitting much but you sure are reading! I usually do the opposite. I'm so excited that you are really coming to Rhinebeck! I think I may be going for just a day trip - I'm still up in the air about it. It's about a 3 hour ride from me so it's not so bad.

  6. Well Jen, that is one impressive list of books! I want to hear more about Denali's Howl when you get into it, it sounds really good.
I've been slowly reading my book and knitting on my shawl, just taking my time with both, it's too hot to hurry for anything!
