Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stone may break my bones, but your words will never hurt me.  That's great in theory.  Maybe if I had thicker skin?

I got my haircut last week.  It was getting long (longer than I've ever had it) and tangled.  The ends were a mess and the curl was getting weighed down so it was just easier to pull it up.   The stylist cut off about 4 inches.  It was styled very cutely and I loved it.  Of course I have not been able to duplicate what she did.

Saturday night a close family member (not hubby) told me they had a mop that looked better than my haircut did.  What?!  My mama always told me if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all.  Well now, I'm questioning my haircut.  I'm regretting having her cut so much.  I can still pull it back, but it's got more layers in it, so it doesn't stay as well.

Ugh.  OK.  Thanks.  I just needed to vent.  I'll buy more styling product and experiment.  After all it is just hair.  It will grow back.

  1. What?! How says something like that? I wouldn't put too much thought into what they said. I'm not a hair expert (I cut my own and have two hair styles) but I think your hair looks just fine!

    1. You're lucky, I wouldn't try to cut my own hair. Then for sure, I'd have to go to the stylist!

  2. I think it looks great! And my favorite part about pulling hair back is those little pieces that come out from your bun or ponytail - especially paired with bangs like yours! I don't think you should second guess it at all!

    1. And if I get tired of those little pieces that fall out, that's what bobby pins are for!

  3. Your hair looks adorable! Please don't let someone else take away the joy you have for your new look, I think it's a cute cut, especially for your face shape. Some people are never happy unless they are putting others down, we should really feel sorry for them because they must be feeling so miserable about themselves.

  4. You are beautiful and I cannot believe the nerve of some people. I truly believe that some people do not THINK before they start yakking. Love the curls :)

  5. Ohh...don't worry about what they said. I think it's really cute! I cut myself some bangs not long ago and have regretted it since, but like you said, it's hair, and it will grow back!

  6. I'm sure the person who said that felt like an idiot the minute the words popped out and wished they could be stuffed right back in! Sometimes envy about one thing leads to mean comments about another and are not really based in truth but, rather, in a perceived vulnerability. Anyway, I have always had really challenging hair so would gladly trade with you, yours looks healthy and shiny and nice. Because I seem to be totally impaired when it comes to styling hair (it's so boring, isn't it?), I always ask the stylist to show me how to style it after they cut it. That way, when I am inclined, I have some idea of what to do.
