Knitting This Week

It's Wednesday again and that mean it is time for the weekly Yarn Along!  I am joining with Ginny and everyone to share yarn and books.  I have been working here and there on Hitofude.  I'm not sure what I was doing with the yarn overs but after a week of working on other projects, I went back to the sweater and now my yarn overs look right.

I have been working furiously on the woven scarf to get it finished.  I just finished the sixth and final 96 inch section which means I am ready to knit the two inch cuff to connect the strips after they've been woven together and wouldn't you know it...I ran out of yarn.  I'll post another picture when it is finished!
This is book twelve in the Corcoran O'Connor series by William Kent Krueger.  I am thoroughly enjoying these books and will be bummed when I have finished the series.  I am listening to Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts.  I always like Nora Roberts books whether they are a stand alone book or a part of her trilogies.
 Happy Yarn Along Wednesday!

A Box of Knitting

My parents have gotten the de-clutter bug.  They are also finishing the laundry room in the basement. The laundry room is also a storage room.  Some of the "stuff" is staying put, some is going to the thrift store and most of it is being divided between my brother and myself.

I just received a box of "knitting & crocheting."   In this box was some needles and hooks, green acrylic yarn, some lovely 1980's knit pattern fliers and magazines, some grey Icelandic wool yarn.  And the back of sweater my mom started knitting for my dad 20 some years ago with said green acrylic yarn.

Gosh aren't those patterns "lovely"?  I'm not sure what to do with most of the stuff in the box.   I'm thinking I will frog the sweater and use the yarn in the "crappy scrappy squares blanket."  The blanket is made with all icky acrylic yarn so it would fit right in!  It's amazing really what they've done with acrylic yarn in 20 some years.  It's much softer these days.

I'm not sure what to do with the patterns or the wool yarn.  Donate it to the thrift store?  Toss it?  Put it back in the box?  I've been meaning to get a nice glass jar to put my straight needles in anyway, so those I'll keep as well.

If you've any ideas I'd be happy to hear them.

Random Thoughts on Thursday

* The temperatures this past Monday were in the 70's!  CRAZY!  We spent the afternoon at the park with some friends.  At one point, C took her shoes off (because her feet were hot...) and was playing on the wooden play structure.  It is an older park so said wooden structure is not in pristine condition.  We have removed approximately eight splinters from her feet and she has about ten or so to go.  I can not describe how difficult it is to remove them.  I also can't explain to her that they will hurt worse in her feet than they will for me to pull them out.

* Yesterday Buffett had surgery to remove a mass from the back of his neck and a tooth extraction.  He was scheduled for the 25th, but the mass ruptured and was very much an oozing mess.  Luckily the vet had a cancellation and we were able to get him in.  The mass was sent to CSU for biopsy and we'll know the results in 5-7 days.  He is currently resting comfortably.  OK, who am I kidding?  He is drugged up!

* I have been getting a gazillion junk emails every day.  The last week of January, I did a 3 day trip for work.  I never take my lap top and didn't get around to checking emails on my ipad.  I came hope to 567 email messages.  Most of which I deleted.  So I started a quest to unsubscribe to all that crap.  It may take me forever and it might not work.  But I'm going to try!

Happy Thursday my friends!

Knitting This Week

I seem to have had a bit of a lapse in blogging.  I'm not sure where the time went, except I spent way too much of it at work and away from my family.  And now I find that it is time for the yarn along again.  Do I have much to show for my time away?  No.   But I am joining again with Ginny and everyone to share books and yarn.  I have worked on three projects in the last couple of weeks... Hitofude, the woven scarf, and a scrappy blanket project that comes out of hiding every couple of months.

I have started Hitofude three times.  I'm not starting again.  However, my yarn overs are not looking right to me.  Maybe when I block it they will look ok.  I am figuring that if I keep it consistent then it won't look so wrong?!  The only row where the YO's look right is on row 1 of each repeat and I haven't figured what I'm doing wrong.

I am now on book nine of  William Kent Krueger's Corcoran O'Connor series. He writes murder/ suspense novels that take place in the Iron Range/Boundary Water area of Northern Minnesota.  I read book eleven out of order and then gave it to my friend to read.  Her mom is from that area and that has begun our quest to read all of the books in order.

Happy Yarn Along Wednesday!
