Yarn Along

6:00 AM

It's Wednesday again and that means it is time for the weekly yarn along.  I joining with Ginny and everyone to share yarn and book.  I finished C's sweater vest and have moved on to other projects.  I still randomly work on my Sylvi sweater and will show it to you someday.

I started my two at a time toe up socks using the magic loop.  I actually started them about 12 times.  The directions call for Judy Beckers cast on.  So while watching YouTube I sat down to cast on.  I seriously started these socks multiple times.  My tension was off,  I wrapped the wrong needle a couple of times, and once I pulled the wrong needles when I started to knit and had to start over.  After uttering many a bad word, I succeeded and am working away on these socks.  I've had to dig out my reading glasses to work with this tiny needles and yarn!
Another project I started was this woven scarf from VOGUE knitting in an issue that I stashed from eight years ago.  I'm using leftover royal purple Cascade 220 superwash.  There are two garter stitch bands on either end and five 90" strips that are woven together in between.
I just started reading The Invention of Wings.  I'm only about eight pages in, so no opinion yet.  I finished reading The Racketeer by John Grisham.  That was certainly a page turner.
Happy Yarn Along Wednesday!

  1. It's it funny that a craft that can be so calming can also cause cuss words to fly out of our mouths? I think it's awesome that you learned to knit two socks at once using the toe up method, I have got to learn one day.

  2. I admire your perseverance with the socks. I have a cowl pattern that I have begun and frogged 3 times. I just can't get it right so for now I have given up. I look forward to seeing the finished woven scarf. I too save magazines for future use.

  4. I just downloaded The Invention onto my Kindle from the library. I can't wait to dig in. I've been hearing a lot of really good things about the book. I read The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd a few months ago and really enjoyed it.

  5. I have only done two at a time on magic loop once and it confused me. I just stick to one at time for my simple brain!

  6. Another friend just started that book... I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it. Also? I can do two at a time, but man, it's tricky getting started. Good for you for sticking with it!

  8. It took me a while and some serious cursing to get my first toe-up sock on the needles. I hope the rest of the process is better and please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
