Yarn Along

7:00 AM

Time once again to join the weekly Yarn Along.  Books and knitting.  I'm definitely not getting much of either done this summer.  I am waiting patiently through this heat to knit again.  I started the Miranda Hat that Evelyn from Project Stash designed.  I've only done two rows so far.  I thought I needed a cooler project than a blanket sitting in my lap.  Even in the AC.  I'm using some of the softer yarn in  my stash.

I picked up Made From Scratch: Discovering the Pleasures of a Handmade Life by Jenna Wogrinrich at the library when we went for baby story time last week.  The author decided to learn a few of the skills she needs to be a homesteader.  Only one chapter in, so I have no opinion of the book yet.

I am also reading the last Fifty Shades book.  I must say I am so over Christian Grey.  There is at least some sort of story line in this book, but I don't like his controlling tendancies.

OK.  I WAS reading Fifty Shades Freed.  A couple of hours ago, I realized that I left my book on the airplane behind my jumpseat.  I'll be lucky if I ever see it again.  Maybe I was subconsciously done with the book.  But I really want to see how it all ends.  Ugh!

Happy Yarn Along Wednesday!

  1. What a total bummer! Maybe you can pick up another copy secondhand - I have a feeling there are probably many out there. So, was it a decent read? Worth the time getting through all three books?

    1. The writing is not that great. And I think you can tell she is a British writer because she uses some language that we wouldn't use here in the US. There is at least some sort of storyline to the books. They are definitely a good escape read.

  2. I'll have to look for the book you are currently reading, sounds interesting.

  3. Awww, man! That stinks. They 'additions' at the end of Freed make finishing off the series so worthwhile.

  4. I love the miranda hat, it is such a quick, fun knit! What yarn are you using for it?

    1. I am using some soft pink variegated yarn from my stash. I think it was a Caron Simply Soft. I'm not sure since it didn't come to me with any label. For an acrylic blend yarn it is soft enough for a hat.

  5. The Miranda hat looks very cute. Oh no about leaving your book behind. We once left one of my daughter favourite books (at the time) on a flight. I rang as soon as I realised, but never got it back. It was an expensive hardcover book too. Fingers crossed someone more honest hands in your book. Jacinta
